Mr. Gross tested the feasibility of a research & technology park at UMBC. Of particular relevance, he tested the market for film and video production and for computer-aided design and graphics technologies. He determined the relative research strengths of the university and its role in emerging technologies relating to computer graphics and software design. He helped develop the implementation plan for the park based on the economic analysis and financial feasibility assessment. This plan included a marketing strategy, development plan, technology partnership development strategy and other inputs. He also determined the economic impacts of the project on the State of Maryland, since the university is a State institution. The State has since successfully developed this technology park in the suburbs of Baltimore.
