Shopping Center Reuse as County Government Center

Meridian, MS

Randall Gross / Development Economics completed work on an assessment of impacts from the relocation of the Lauderdale County courthouse and associated County offices from downtown Meridian to other sites including a former shopping mall. He determined that the fiscal and economic impacts would be complicated by the fact that the courts would only occupy a small portion of the mall site, which would still need substantial investment to attract and leverage private investment. He completed this work for Lauderdale County Government as part of a design team led by Belinda Stewart Architects.
