Preservation Incentives for Music Row – A National Treasure

Nashville, TN

Randall Gross / Development Economics (RGDE) recently worked for the National Trust for Historic Preservation on incentives and a strategic plan for preservation and small music business development in the Music Row district of Nashville. Music Row is the historic home to numerous recording studios, publishing houses, talent agencies, artist unions, and other businesses that gave “Music City” its name. It is perhaps the only remaining intact music industry business district in the world. But the district is in danger of wholesale demolition due to development pressures as Nashville’s population expands. Mr. Gross helped to determine how best to preserve important music heritage sites while also building on the district’s strengths as an historic hub for the music industry.
