NC73 Economic Development Plan

Davidson, NC

Mr. Gross completed an economic development strategy as part of a Development Plan for the NC73 Corridor through the town of Davidson, North Carolina. The town is home to Davidson College, a small but well-known liberal arts institution. Mr. Gross identified key opportunities for small-scale research and technology development that would complement the college town’s amenity-driven lifestyle and economic base. He completed this work on behalf of the Town of Davidson, the Town of Huntersville, and Cabarrus County government as part of a planning team led by Design Collective, Inc.  Mr. Gross’s recommendations helped to resolve a perceived conflict between economic development in a growing suburban corridor and community objectives relating to environmental sustainability and quality of life in Davidson. Mr. Gross utilized examples and best practices of sustainable R&D and technology development to illustrate the potential compatibility of local environmental and economic development objectives.
