Hiking/Biking Trail System Tourism Potentials, Impacts & Strategy
North Georgia, USA
Randall Gross / Development Economics (RGDE) recently completed an assessment of the tourism potentials and economic impacts of hiking and biking trails proposed for north Georgia’s Walker, Dade and Catoosa counties, as part of a trails master plan completed by Ragan-Smith Consulting. This work was completed on behalf of the North Georgia Transportation Planning Organization and Georgia Department of Transportation. Mr. Gross conducted an assessment of the existing tourism inventory and flow, assessed opportunities for trail development, and forecasted tourism potentials generated by the development of trails in the region. He then determined the fiscal and economic benefits that would be generated by the trails to local jurisdictions and counties in North Georgia.
