For engineering firm HNTB, Randall Gross determined the economic potentials for expansion of an existing port on the Gulf of Mexico. He examined niche freight opportunities and forecasting tonnage, which HNTB translated into facility requirements. He also recommended economic development and marketing strategies to maximise port potential. Unfortunately, Port Bienville was destroyed not long after by Hurricane Katrina, whose eye passed over Hancock County.
