Commercial District Development Master Plan

Henderson Point, MS

Mr. Gross worked as part of an American Planning Association (APA) volunteer Katrina response planning team on a town center master plan for Henderson Point, Mississippi. Nearly all of the 1,000 homes plus the small commercial district that comprised the community of Henderson Point was lost during Hurricane Katrina. Mr. Gross provided market and financial input to the community in the re-construction of their destroyed town center, as part of the master planning team. Among the challenges to redevelopment were FEMA requirements for minimum flood clearance, which led the team to recommend an elevated mixed-use town center above structured parking, to allow for the floodway.
