Arlandria Commercial Corridor Revitalization Strategy
ARLANdria Commercial Corridor Revitalization Strategy
Alexandria, VA
Randall Gross recently completed a market potentials analysis and revitalization strategy for the Arlandria commercial district, bordering Arlington County and the city of Alexandria. Mr. Gross focused on the potential for marketing the district as a niche destination by enhancing its Latino identity, as well as its potential appeal for families with children. The district currently relies on walk-in trade that has been heavily impacted by fluctuations in the economy and by the nearby 9/11 events at the Pentagon and National Airport. Based on the market findings, Mr. Gross recommended strategies for improving the link between the Arlandria and the adjacent park and recreation facilities and for building on other assets. Mr. Gross also worked directly with local merchants and property owners to strengthen the existing business association. This work was completed for the City of Alexandria’s planning department.
